In 71 days, you could have a new, rewarding career as a dental assistant!  Lake Area Dental Assisting School offers a 10 week course that will teach you all the fundamentals of dental assisting.  There are no "extra" classes to take (such as English or Math) so you'll be focusing solely on dental assisting...and your new career!  Classes will be on Saturdays, from 8-5, with lectures in the morning and hands-on clinicals in the afternoon.  

Lake Area Dental Assisting School is located in the dental office of Dr. James C. Fusco, D.D.S.; Hermitage Dental Center.  The office's lower level contains a classroom, small lounge area, and laboratory.  Lectures will be held in the lower level.  Most of the clinicals will be done upstairs in the operatories, which means you will have access to all the equipment the professionals use.  What better place to learn dental assisting than in a dental office?!?

During the 10 week course we will discuss and study everything that you need to know to become a dental assistant...from x-rays to passing instruments.  We will also spend time writing resumes and practicing job interviews.  Quizzes and reading assignments will be part of each lecture.  There will be a midterm and final exam.  On the last day of class, after the final exam, we will have our graduation ceremony. 

The dress code is casual, however, scrubs are preferred.  We want you to get used to wearing scrubs, gloves, masks, and other disease protection since you will be wearing those things in the actual workplace.  Also, some procedures can be messy and could ruin your clothes.  The office will provide gloves, masks, lab coats, and other infection control items that you will need.  The students will be responsible for their own clinical attire.
